Project overview
Leogang is another pipeline critical-metals project. Leogang East and Leogang West are grouped as one project covering 30 km2 across 63 exploration licences.
The project is associated with historical cobalt-nickel-copper-silver polymetallic mineralisation in the Western Greywacke Zone north of the Tauern Window. The exploration concept will focus on small, structurally controlled polymetallic pods associated with dolomite host rocks and north-west-south-east fault architecture.
Location and access
Leogang is in the Leogang-Schwarzleo district of Salzburg, Austria. Principal historical mining and exploration areas include Schwarzleo, Nockelberg, Vogelhalt, Rastboden and related minor workings in and around the Schwarzleo Valley. The area is close to the town of Leogang and established road, forestry, tourism and valley infrastructure.
Geological setting and target areas
Leogang lies within the Western Greywacke Zone, a Palaeozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic belt between the Northern Calcareous Alps and the Tauern Window. The host succession includes dolomitic marble or dolomite horizons, graphitic schists and phyllites, and quartzites.
– Nockelberg: the best-known historical cobalt-nickel working group. Historical summaries and selected samples demonstrate historical mining focus and metal tenor but are not representative modern resource grades.
– Schwarzleo: historically worked for polymetallic silver-copper-cobalt-nickel mineralisation.
– Vogelhalt and Rastboden: additional target areas considered within the fault and dolomite-hosted exploration model.
Exploration status and proposed work
Leogang is a pipeline project. The minimum funding case assigns no project-specific technical expenditure to it. Under the maximum case, the proposed staged program begins with data compilation, access review and target validation, followed by geological mapping, geochemistry and geophysics. Drilling would be considered only if earlier work establishes coherent targets and the required access and approvals are available.
Project status notice
Historical grades, selected ore samples, production references, dump samples, soil anomalies and previous drill concepts are treated as historical or target-generation information only unless independently verified and reported in accordance with the JORC Code.
